Another miter. Turquoise and Cream. So pretty. I'd love an entire blanket with just these two colors. This piece is making me want to knit more and more and more . . . but . . .
My son M. is off to Washington, D.C. tomorrow morning with his 8th grade class. He has to be at school at 5:45 AM. Yuck. Painful. I've got to get him packed up, check-listed, and to bed. Then me, too. He's so excited about the trip, he probably won't sleep.
I remember my 8th grade trip to D.C. I know I had a good time and enjoyed touring all of the places they take 8th graders, but my fun was seriously dampened and darkened by a particularly horrible perm. I looked terrible and felt even worse. That's what happened in the 7o's when you went to Al's Fashionette for a permanent wave. You became semi-permanently hideous. Don't even want to think about it.
M. just went for a haircut on Saturday. He looks great. Lucky boy.

M-M-Miters
Here are some of the latest miters - unblocked:
I love it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll continue to love as I knit. I find myself very tense as I knit it. That must be because I so want it to come out right and fit me. I usually knit things where gauge is not super-important and size doesn't matter or the intended wearer can grow into it. I'm going to think positively, take a deep breath - or several - and keep knitting.
Thanks for asking, Sheila. You gave me a push to get the picture up here. As soon as I finish my second baby kimono, I'll spend my knitting time alternating between the miters and this:
It's the tie-front cardigan from Knitting Beyond Scarves by Melissa Leapman. I'm finally getting brave enough to knit a sweater that will fit me. I crocheted a sweater once, and it ended up with elephant trunk sleeves. Such a shame. This time, I'm trying to do everything right. I bought the exact yarn called for in the pattern (Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Brush - Color 1710 a pretty, deep blue) and I even knit a gauge swatch. Imagine that. It's hard for me to force myself to swatch. I just want to get to the knitting project. I think, think, that my gauge is correct. I hope I'm not lying to myself. I want this sweater to fit me.
Here's a picture of the project a little closer up.

Time to Catch Up
It's been a busy few weeks and there's been some knitting going on. I haven't been spending as much time as I would have liked on my miters for my mitered square blanket. There are babies being born and more babies on the way, so I've been focusing on baby stuff.
Here's the Petal Bib from Oneskein, by Leigh Radford. I made one without remembering to hide the wraps in the short rows, but figured it out from the second one. It's so sweet. Sugar'n Cream yarn in Cornflower Blue. I can't wait to see it on a baby. I'm pretty sure it's going to go home to Tessa, my friend Erin's brand new baby girl.
This is the baby kimono from the pattern in Mason-Dixon Knitting. It still needs the ribbon ties, but I couldn't wait to take a picture of it. Instead of using the Sugar'n Cream yarn I'd planned to use, I made it with this:
It's Berroco's new Love it yarn. I bought it at a LYS that I visited for the first time a few weeks ago. It's mostly cotton, with some acrylic and polyester. It has an elastic, stretchy feel to it and it's so soft. I had to have it. The baby kimono came out so nicely. I've started a second kimono with the Sugar'n Cream and I'm not loving it as much. I really want to get more of the Love it.
I'll be back in a little bit with more . . .
